Health, Safety and Security Measures
Health is one of the main basic service indicators, which need to be studied so as to know the quality of life in the area. But the villages have no medical facilities. Only a trained village level medical personnel (locally know as NM) visits the villages once in a month and distributes some free medicines. Near by BIM-SAIL-Hospital is available for all.
There is a Govt. Hospital is at Koira. CESS Doctor is coming to our Mines weekly once for the treatment of employees. Also one Pharmacist is available full time within the lease area for providing service. Apart from the above Our Doctor(MBBS) is visiting the surrounding area thrice in a month with a Team having Testing Kit and Free Medicines.
Rain Water Harvesting
Raikela & Tantra Iron mine of M/s Penguin Trading & Agencies Ltd intends to do rainwater harvesting within the ML area as a water conservation measure. The rainwater harvesting will improve the ground water table of the area.
Hydro geological Study
Hydro geological study has been carried out towards impact of GW drawl on the GW resources of the area. From the study it is concluded that there is no impact on the Ground water due to mining activity.
Occupational Health
Pre placement medical examination of all personnel going to be appointed in the mine will be done. Also Periodic health check-up of the mine workers will be carried out .
Periodical Medical examination of all employees will be done at regular intervals as per their trade, if any health problem has occurred during the period of employment or any health disorder detected, it will be treated adequately and the employee will be repositioned in a suitable area of the mine, as per his condition.
Environmental Monitoring Programme
The action plan of EMP is being updated every year with respect to the results achieved and proposed activities for next year. Any new regulations circulated by MoEF/ CPCB will be taken care of. Adequate budget will be sanctioned while updating EMP.

Occupational Health Hazard Measures
The main causes of Occupational Health Hazard in opencast mines are dust and noise. Water sprinkling system will be fixed at several places to control the dust emission.
- Capital cost for environmental management is` 40 Lakhs.
Safety Measures
The workmen in the mine will be trained, educated and issued with Personal Protective Equipments for their own safety. Safety of employees & materials are being taken care of as per mines rules and regulations. Pre placement medical examination will be carried out for all personnel going to be appointed in the proposed mine.
